About Me

Hi ! I am Shangyi, currently studying Music Technology with a concentration in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. I have had previous game audio internships at Lilith Games and Tencent, with responsibilities including designing and implementing in-battle SFX, 3D environmental sounds, and voice-lines.​

My music training started from classical piano at the age of 7, and I enjoyed how music could be a mesmerizing world filled with creativity. I went to a lot of piano performance competitions during my teenage years and won third prize in the Steinway Piano Competition in the junior group, South China region in 2015 and honorable mention in the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford 2019.

I later started doing more compositional work for games and has fallen for game audio ever since. I want to continue use my previous knowledge in music and technology to story narrations in games, films and documentaries.​

2025

Internships: Lilith Games & Tencent Games

Worked on designing and mixing game audio including in-battle/environmental SFX and VO on large development teams of 1000+. Made custom tools using Reascripts and the Wwise API(WAAPI) to streamline the import/editing workflow.

Various Game Jams: GMTK, Winter Mellon, Level Upstate, Ludum Dare, GGJ

Explored implementation for game audio in different aspects such as 2D platforming, 3D simulations, and VR experiences. Implementations included using Wwise, FMOD, and scripted audio managers in engines.

Composed soundtracks and sfx tailored for a series of minigames: mini golf, campfire, bubble run,
and space.
