Tencent - The Hidden Ones

The Hidden Ones is a 3D combat action game with Chinese martial arts. Since PVP combat is a major feature, I emphasized defining each character’s personality through their distinct ability sounds and spatially dynamic effects.

The redesign shown here for Ruhua is based on that she is a mechanical puppet. She has no emotions, powerful, elegant, yet a sense of eeriness often surrounds her.

Tools Development - WAAPI

Besides implementing the in-battle character sfx through different animation and scene editors in the game engine, I also added new features to the current tool for the audio team.

Through using Python and WAAPI, I made the option for users to choose between batch importing VO lines into switch or random container boxes in Wwise, and automatically populating into corresponding events and soundbanks. This was handy when dealing with hundreds of VO lines each time. There were also many categorization customizations related to different name types and usages.

Lilith Games - AFK Arena/Journey

AFK Arena and AFK Journey are both SLG mechanic heavy RPG mobile games that emphasize magical, whimsicalness, and fantasy-related properties. Here is an example of the UI SFX that I made during the internship.

Tools Development - Reascripts

The pain point in the audio team for these two projects was also the massive amount of narratives and VO that had to be processed. I used Lua for writing reascripts that could directly manipulate the samples in each track. Some of the tools I wrote included automatically breaking VO lines in long wav files into separate vocal lines, and transferring each into its own track, and gluing media items in each track etc. This was all for the ease of batch exporting the processed files with the correct naming conventions. â€‹
